Joe Rogan says he declined having Donald Trump on podcast: 'I don't want to help him'

There's one big name Joe Rogan says is not welcome on his controversial podcast: Donald Trump.

In an episode of Lex Fridman's podcast released on Monday, the host of "The Joe Rogan Experience" said he has declined on multiple occasions to have Trump on his podcast, adding he doesn't support the former president.

"I'm not a Trump supporter in any way, shape or form. I've had the opportunity to have him on my show more than once, I've said no every time, I don't want to help him, I'm not interested in helping him," Rogan said.

Rogan also called Trump a "polarizing figure" and "an existential threat to democracy itself."

"So many people felt like they could abandon their own ethics and morals and principles just to attack him and anybody who supports him," he said.

Fridman pointed out Trump could still one day be on the show, adding he has had controversial people on his podcast like Ye, formerly known as Kanye West, before. But, Rogan said, "Kanye's an artist" and "Kanye doing well or not doing well doesn't change the course of our country."

Rogan and Trump have been linked before. In March, Trump appeared on the "Full Send Podcast" and said Rogan "is not racist" and "a very interesting guy" after receiving backlash for his use of racial slurs in previous podcast episodes. Trump added Rogan should "stop apologizing" for his comments but didn't know if he had been invited on his podcast.

Rogan endorsed Bernie Sanders in the 2020 presidential election and recently voiced his support for Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, who has been viewed as a primary opponent to Trump should he run for president in 2024

When asked if Trump would win the 2024 election, Rogan said Trump would be "running against a dead man," a reference to Joe Biden.

Rogan has also come under fire for his comments on the COVID-19 vaccine, which prompted rock legend Neil Young to ask Spotify to remove his music from the streaming service for supporting Rogan. Spotify CEO Daniel Ek condemned Rogan's comments, but said the service would not part ways with him.
